Dear Second Grader and Family,

Welcome to second grade. I am very excited that you are going to be in my class in the fall! I am already busy preparing and getting things ready to roll. It won’t be long and you will find yourself getting ready for the first day of school.
This fall I am asking you to bring:
-2 one subject spiral bound notebooks to use as your writing journal
-headphones (Please put them in a ziplock bag with your name on it to store in your tool basket.)
-3 black expo chisel tip whiteboard markers
-a pencil box
-crayons
-pencils #2
-small pencil sharpener that catches the shavings
-erasers
-colored pencils
-3 glue sticks
-5 two pocket folders
-1 box of soft tissue
Please do not purchase markers, trapper keepers, or any other large items for your desk as we have limited storage space in our desk.

Our specialist schedule for this fall will be as follows and will be on a five day rotating basis. Students will have a special every day from 12:35-1:15.
Day 1: Music
Day 2: Library
Day 3:Physical Education (please wear sneakers and dress properly to Participate in class)
Day 4: Art

This summer as you are enjoying your vacation, I would like you to be thinking of an item you can bring to school on the first day for show-and-tell so you can share with the class one of your summer experiences.
I would also like you to bring in a book or two that you read during your summer vacation. Be ready to share why you chose the book and a general summary of the story. Wow, homework already!!
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 1, 2015!!! We will be having our Ice Cream Social/Open House Celebration from 6:00-7:00. I sure hope you are able to attend. It will be an exciting evening to reconnect with your friends and to be able to see your new classroom.
If you have any questions or concerns, the best way to contact me through the summer and school year is by email. My email is:
laurirandall@rsu57.org
I will check this at least once a week through the summer and daily once school begins.
I look forward to working with you next year. Have a wonderful summer and please keep reading and working on memorization of your addition and subtraction facts through 20!!!!
See you in September!!!!

Mrs. Randall
